In the News - Winter 2004
As any football fan knows, Sunday, February 1st was Super Bowl Sunday. But on Nassau Street in Princeton New Jersey that day was better knows as Oyster Bowl V.
You see, at the Blue Point Grill, the areas premier seafood restaurant, they were hosting their fifth annual oyster eating contest. Oyster eating aficionados from near and far arrived to see just how many oysters on the half shell the contestants could eat in just two minutes. Andreas Bros. Oyster and Seafood Sauce was there - our inaugural debut, bottles on the tables for the throngs of patrons and contestants to sample on their favorite oysters on the half shell. The enthusiasm was tremendous.
We were proud to lend our support to this most worthy cause, Oyster Bowl V and the funds raised from this event benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation NJ Race for the CureŽ. The event had a host of local sponsors and was covered live by numerous broadcasting companies.
As for the contest, the winner gulped down 96 oysters on the half shell in just 2 minutes and it wasn't a pretty site!! The event though, was a smashing success. The packed house set a new record for proceeds at the event, raising the standard for next year. It was a fantastic event! I've never witnessed anything quite like it and find myself already looking forward to Oyster Bowl VI.
In other news, word of the new 'Oyster Sauce' is spreading. We have now had orders from California, Florida and numerous states along the southeastern coastline. With the arrival of springtime weather and outdoor activities resuming, you'll see the 'Oyster Sauce' debut in many seafood houses.
Thanks to everyone. We'll keep you informed.
Enjoy!
